Word Nest Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ayane Labs handles information in the Word Nest mobile app.
Word Nest is a local-first word puzzle game. The app does not require an account, a login, an email address, or a user profile. Your progress lives on your device. The one feature that leaves your device is the optional leaderboard, described below; you can play the whole game without it.
Information We Store on Your Device
Word Nest stores gameplay information locally on your device so the app can remember your level progress, coins, helper charges, unlocked backgrounds, badges, word book entries, daily challenge streaks, puzzle language, and settings such as sound, music, vibration, and reminders.
The app also generates a random identifier for your installation and stores it on the device. It is not your device's advertising identifier, and it is not linked to your name, email address, or any account.
This local game data stays on your device, apart from the leaderboard information described in the next section. You can remove the local copy by clearing the app data or uninstalling the app.
Leaderboard
Word Nest has an optional weekly and all-time leaderboard. When it is active, the app sends the following to an Ayane Labs server at api.ayanelabs.com: your scores and puzzle counts, the display name you type in yourself, whether you asked to be hidden, and an anonymous installation identifier that the app generates at random.
That identifier is not your name, your email address, your phone number, or your device's advertising identifier. It exists so your own score can be recognised as yours on a later visit. The display name is whatever you type; you are free to use a nickname, and nothing checks it against a real identity.
You can switch on "Hide me from the leaderboard" in the app at any time, which removes your entry from the public list. If you would like your leaderboard record deleted from the server entirely, email us and we will remove it.
The server is operated by Ayane Labs and hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.
Update Check
The app occasionally asks the same Ayane Labs server whether a newer version is available in the app stores. That request carries the app version and platform only.
Advertising
Word Nest uses Google AdMob to show ads. Ads may include a banner at the bottom of the screen, full-screen ads between levels, and rewarded ads that you choose to watch in exchange for coins or helpers.
Google and its partners may process information such as device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, app activity related to ad delivery, diagnostics, and advertising interaction data. This processing is handled by Google according to Google's policies.
Learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Consent and Privacy Choices
In regions where consent is required, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Word Nest shows a consent message before personalized advertising is used.
You can choose whether to allow personalized ads where this choice is available. If you do not allow personalized ads, ads may still be shown, but they may be less relevant.
iOS App Tracking Transparency
On iOS, Word Nest may ask for permission to use Apple's advertising identifier through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, Word Nest will not access the IDFA for tracking.
In-App Purchases
Word Nest offers optional in-app purchases: coin packs and a one-time purchase that removes ads. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card details, billing address, or store account.
We use Adapty to check which purchases an installation is entitled to. Adapty receives the anonymous installation identifier, the purchase receipt issued by the store, and basic device and country information. It does not receive your name or payment details.
Analytics
Word Nest uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is used in aggregate, for example how many players start and finish a level, where players stop playing, which puzzle languages are used, and whether ads succeed. Firebase may process a Firebase-generated app instance identifier, device and operating system information, approximate location derived from IP address, and in-app event data.
We use this information to improve the game. We do not use it to identify you personally. Learn more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Word Nest schedules reminders on your device. Scheduling happens entirely on the device; no notification token is registered with a remote push service and no reminder data leaves your device.
You can turn reminders off at any time in the app settings or in your device's system settings.
Support Emails
If you contact us by email, your email app may include your message and optional technical details such as app version and platform. We use support emails only to respond to feedback, support requests, or bug reports.
Children
Word Nest is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Third-Party Services
Word Nest may use the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob and Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising and ad consent support.
- Google Analytics for Firebase for aggregate usage analytics.
- Adapty for verifying in-app purchases and entitlements.
- An Ayane Labs server (api.ayanelabs.com, Frankfurt) for the optional leaderboard and the update check.
- GitHub-hosted static legal pages.
- Apple App Store and Google Play services for app distribution, if you install the app through those stores.
Your Choices and Data Deletion
You can clear all local game data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage. Word Nest keeps no account, so there is nothing to close. If you used the leaderboard, a record with your chosen display name, your scores, and the anonymous installation identifier remains on our server: switch on "Hide me from the leaderboard" in the app to remove it from the public list, or email us and we will delete the record.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
